Participants will be asked to develop a designed structural object within the parametric environment of Grasshopper3D. Lead by Clemens Preisinger, Zeynep Aksöz and Mathew Tam, we will guide you through a series of tutorials in Karamba3D, design critiques and review sessions. What you will expect to achieve at the end of the workshop?Learn the basics of using Karamba3DDesign, develop and optimise a structureSet up a parametric structural system using beam elementsCreate basic animations from Rhino/GrasshopperCreate an interactive cloud model Course OutlineThe course will begin on the 2nd November and will last for three weeks. The final session and presentation will be on the 20th November. There are three sessions a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – from 11:00-14:00 CEST.Week 1Introductory lectureBasic setup with cantilever beamCross-section optimization with a simply supported beamParametric truss with jointsGrid-shells with eccentricitiesDevelop a concept designSet up a parametric modelInitial analysis in Karamba3DWeek 2Loads, load cases and load combinationsInterpreting resultsEigenmodes and natural vibrationsSecond order theory analysisStability and global buckling analysisCreating simple animations in Grasshopper/RhinoFurther develop design ideas and 3d modelDetailed analysis in Karamba3DWeek 3Optimisation with GalapagosMultiobjective optimisationUploading a models to the cloudOptimisation with final structurePresentationOnline exhibitionCourse language and requirements:The course will be held in English. No prior knowledge of Karamba3D is required for this course. General knowledge of Rhino & Grasshopper is highly recommended.Course fee:Professionals (includes academic staff): 500 EUR +VAT (early bird) | 600 EUR +VATStudents (max. 10 places): 250 EUR +VAT (early bird) | 300 EUR +VATEarly bird rates until 1 October 2020.
